Our Programs

Discover ancient practices for modern life. Each program offers a path to greater balance, strength, and self-understanding.

The Taiji Branch

Taiji Qigong & Meditation

Gentle yet powerful movement arts that cultivate balance, strength, and inner peace.

Self-Defense / Weapons Branch

Build confidence, discipline, and physical fitness through traditional training.

The Art Branch

Classical Eastern Arts

Explore Taoist philosophy through calligraphy, painting, music, poetry, and contemplative arts.

Our Taiji Division covers comprehensive curriculum including Taiji Qigong forms, Philosophy/History, and several forms of Meditation. Classes emphasize proper alignment, breathing, and mindful awareness suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you seek physical vitality, mental clarity, or spiritual exploration, discover practices that have nourished body and spirit for centuries.

Our Self Defense curriculum starts with basic Situational Awareness and Defensive Mindset open-hand self defense training and practice. With strong emphasis on Taoist concepts of relaxation, Yin and Yang energies and Wu Wei (non-effort/ non-action); while developing physical fitness and Taoist mentality in the process.

The singular goal of any defensive scenario is to go home. Students of all levels learn practical techniques, develop coordination, and cultivate values of patience, perseverance, and respect. This curriculum will provide participants with tools and skills to develop confidence and ability to achieve the goal.

The curriculum will then progress into Traditional Weapons usage, including T’ai Chi Longsword, and Archery, etc.

The Art Division curriculum covers all forms of Classical Eastern/Taoist art, including but not limited to: Shu Fa (The Art of Writing) and ” The Four Arts of Life” (Painting, Poetry, Music and Strategy). With emphasis on the Taoist principles of Balance, Harmony and Community.

Workshops foster creativity and cultural appreciation in a supportive, non-dogmatic environment where ancient wisdom meets modern expression.

The Youth program is designed to encourage young people to engage in activities while learning about the many facets of Tao. It is meant to interest adolescents from ages 12 – 18 years. TAoCNY wants to assist these teenagers with the challenges of socialization as well as problems from situational awareness that surround a younger person in the new millennium.
